FastWeb, Struggling to Cope With Demand, Has Handset Shortage
By Flavia Krause-Jackson
Nov. 17 (Bloomberg) -- FastWeb SpA, Italy's second-biggest
fixed-line telephone company, is suffering from a shortage of
equipment due to unexpected demand, prompting delays in
delivering cordless telephones to new customers.
The main difficulty lies with the so-called `Easy'
contracts that include a cordless handset needed to activate the
Internet and phone service, said a FastWeb spokeswoman, who
declined to be named, in a telephone interview today. Suppliers
across Rome have run out of equipment, prompting delays of at
least a week, said Pietro Assenza, who runs a FastWeb retailer
in Rome.
