BACK from 10 days in nigeria and my mind, senses and thoughts are somewhat jumbled. may take me a day or two to get back into the swing of things. not to mention get all the photos from the U.S. delegate. am suddenly overwhelmed with flashbacks to things done and said. the fraps together in bizarre, beautiful circumstances. i walked in today through my front door and was greeted by michael saying "are you erika badu?" just to give you a hint of my current frame of mind.

my blog entries should be along these lines.....

1. "If they don't carry guns, keep going." -- our multiple encounters with the night police over the bridge between 2am and 5am involving bribery, resilience and sometimes downright balls.
2. "cocaine use, not cocaine abuse" -- words of wisdom from a radio talk show host talking about whitney houston. followed by coded account of the bathroom incident. hereby to be known as BI (no pun intended)
3. chasing lola -- no comment
4. "No Wahala" -- rudimentary pidgin and z's mastery of the unofficial national language
5. Y Not and Bacchus and the phenomenon of the charming trustafarians and the whoring expats -- fraps get a taste of the seedy side of lagos life
6. Fashion shows in the capital of "bling' -- fraps hit the red carpet and feel like superstars for a night in a sea of absynthe
(bling = flashy or gaudy jewelry, named for the sound generated when worn.)
7. losing track of time by the pool amidst power cuts
9. the religious zeal seen through billboards
10. the ocean, imagining brazil straight ahead and getting swept under tidal waves fully clothed. pushing the car out of quicksand. experiencing the dynamics of the local beach mafia.
11. successful cock-blocking by f frap, infinitely resourceful, magnanimous etc. etc.

Clack, clack: There was NO bribery. I pride myself on that. When you coming back? I'll buy the ticket now. xoxo
